Hey guys,

I'm kind of new to this type of thing, but when ever I look up things on information for my piggies, i always see these forums come up and there is always some helpful information on them.

So basically one of my piggies has no hair under her right eye, she didn't have this issue the day before but the next day i noticed she had no hair and her skin looked a bit dry.
The next day it got worse, the skin became a little red and her eye become a tad swollen.
The other piggie i have seems perfectly fine, i also kept them apart just incase its contagious

I would take her (and maybe the other) to the vet. If whatever she has is contagious then piggy #2 has already been exposed.

Someone more knowledgable will be along later to answer.

Hi and welcome

Please have your piggy vet checked. Sadly pet shop and for sale breeder piggies not rarely come with health issues caused by exposure at the place they have come from. You can reclaim any vet cost in new guinea pigs if you have your piggies seen promptly within 2-3 weeks of purchase in the UK and a month in the USA as part of your customer rights for having been sold damaged ware.
Here is more information: New guinea pigs: Sexing, vet checks&customer rights, URI, ringworm and parasites

If you are found - as I am strongly suspecting - to deal with highly contagious and species jumping ringworm (the most aggressive form of a fungal skin infection which has sadly become rather endemic in a goodly number of UK pet shop branches), then your companion and any person who has touched/handled your piggy since the outbreak are also likely already infected.
The time between infection and acute outbreak is 10-14 days in the case of ringworm, so you won't see any transmission immediately. But once you have a diagnosis, our guide can tell you how you can prevent an acute outbreak in your companion and hopefully also in any humans.
Good hygiene on all levels and a vet grade disinfectant like F10, which is antifungal as well as antibacterial and has been proven to be effective against the long lived tiny fungal spores
Here is our ringworm hygiene care guide which takes you through all the aspects in detail. It also contains pictures of how an acute outbreak typically runs as it has to get worse before it can get better: Ringworm: Hygiene And Pictures

Please accept that we cannot diagnose without a hands-on examination, nor are we qualified to replace a vet. We do most emphatically not recommend to home treat on spec without a proper diagnosis and treatment as you can make things easily worse, more stressful and ultimately more expensive for yourself. Please follow the advice in our guides, see a vet promptly and do not put anything on the infected area as this will make a diagnosis much more difficult and can delay treatment depending on the issue.

We are having members and enquiries from literally all over the world with very different climate, background, vet and rescue access as well as brand names, so it is a great help for us if you please added your country, state/province or UK county to location in your account details (accessed by clicking on your username on the top bar). this makes it appear with every post you make and allows us to tailor any advice straight away to what is relevant and available where you are with just a quick glance to the left instead of keeping our advice as general as possible. Thank you!

Please let us know what the vet says and what they prescribe, so we can support you during treatment.
Take the time to read our very helpful practical guides.

I agree that a vet trip is needed. Please let us know what the vet says.
