There was a time when my piggies would love to snuggle into their fleece lined pigloos and fall asleep. Or they would just be a cosy place to chill out.

Recently however, they go in, inspect, rearrange things with their noses, come out again and go somewhere else. When I check on them a little later I find they have climbed ontop of them and wee'd and poo'ed all over them and made a right old soggy mess. I get it that they are comfortable to sit on, but they have loads of other places to go, such as three litter trays full of lovely hay, the rest of the cage area and lots of hidie places. So why are they suddenly using these as a toilet spot? They never used to once in 6 months. Now they do it so quickly I have had to take the pigloos out, because they don't even last 30 minutes and it's just creating extra washing for no reason. If the pigloos aren't in there then they don't go in the same spot, they go elsewhere in the cage as normal.

I just don't understand why within a week the pigloos were not somewhere they liked to rest, but instead somewhere they liked to make a mess on top of. I guess they are just being piggies, but having bought 4 pigloos for them earlier last year it seems a shame that they are now unused in the cupboard.

:D Perhaps you need better free-standing igloos. I bought mine from The Little Pet Warehouse. They come in various designs. They come with D-rings and ties so that you can hang them from the top of the cage, but they stand up very well on their own too. I've had mine for more than a year and never had a piggie sitting on the top of one.

i have two of those strawberries that you can order from amazon and they love to sit in those. Just a shame to also have 4 pigloos good for nothing more than a wee blanket!
