Thought I would start a thread for my piggies here..today I have 3 girls: Mousey who is 4 and Red & Boots who are 18 months. Daddy pig Lynx sadly passed a couple of months ago.

Despite many reasons I shouldnt get any more pigs..I saw someone locally who wants to rehome their pigs as the children lost interest etc and couldnt resist..There is an apparently neutered boar who is 4 and a 1 year old girl. I'm mainly stressed about potential hay mites but I am prepared if they have them. We are collecting them tomorrow!

Here is the cage I set up its a 200cm ferplast base with midwest panels. They are coming from a pet store 100cm cage so hopefully they will be happy with the upgrade 20251107_154121.webp

They are here! Sorry no pics yet! Unfortunately at least one of them has hay mites so the treatment is on the way hopefully i can eradicate them as Ive done before for other pigs. They are also soo skinny, I know pigs can be various sizes but their heft feels too thin for them. The little girl is only 700g. Hopefully they will gain weight here on a proper diet. They are father and daughter which is cute, apparently he had her before he was neutered and hes had at least a couple previous homes.

Got them out today for a nail trim, weigh & cutting off the hay mite eggs. The boy has lovely grey blue eyes and the little girl is so adorable although she needs tamed she was very scared.

Going by the nails he does not seem 4 years old, I would guess about 2 so maybe someone got it wrong at some point.

I am a bit worried as they arent eating much hay at all. I know they arent used to it but still..I have a vet apointment at the end of the week in case they need their teeth checked but I'm hoping we dont have to go. Ill keep an eye on their weights. 20251110_140710.webp20251110_140310.webp

The trio enjoying their hay 😊 I think Ive decided not to try merging the two new piggies with the trio, mainly as Mousey who is now 4 seems very happy as things are and I dont want to stress her out or annoy her in her retirement. I now plan on moving the new guys to be right beside the trios cage once theyre fully mite free, so at least they can all interact through the bars if they want.

Also good news that the new little girl has gained about 100g since arriving ☺️ 20251125_144422.webp

Realised this a while ago but slightly suspicious of the new little girls weight gain. The boy is neutered but I wonder how long they waited after his surgery to put them back together..the timelines probably dont make sense as I'm sure they didnt pop them together the moment they gave them to us so she would already have had pups but still. She gained 200g in the 5 weeks she has been here, she was at a measly 700 when she arrived. So its probably just from having a good diet here but still..another 5 weeks to go before I can fully relax 😂

I hope it’s just your great care and not a pregnancy. Fingers crossed!

They’re in the best place with you now and they must be very happy to find themselves in such a loving, enriching and safe home.

Shes not gained any in a week, sticking at around 900g so looks good 😅
