My Piggy Has Been Attacked By My Dog.

My piggie was attacked by my dog I am trying to convince my dad to help me take him to a get in the morning there is a patch of hair missing his butt looks weird and he is dragging one leg no skin is broke but he's not moving around much I really don't know what I'm asking I'm just scared for him.

He should definitely see a vet... I am guessing from your post that you are young and rely on your parents to provide vet care and such, but any injured animal should get vet care. It's the only humane thing to do. Hopefully your dad will realize that. He may have broken bones and/or internal injuries. There's no way to know without a vet assessment! I hope your dad realizes that the only responsible thing is to get care for an injured pet!
 
He likely has internal injuries and/or broken bones. He needs to got to the vet, preferably as an emergency. He'll be in a lot of pain.

When we take on a pet, part of that responsibility is to care for them, which means paying for a vet visits.

I'm sure he would take the dog to a vet, or you to the hospital if it were you. Pigs are no different, they feel pain and deserve to be treat the same as any other creature.
 
Poor guy. He really needs to see a vet, your dad must take him. It is against the law to deny animals the vet treatment they need. I know that you are relying on your parents, please try to make them aware that he needs a vet ASAP. Sending healing vibes for your piggy.
 
Poor little guy. I hope your piggy has been seen by an emergency vet as that is a real emergency.

Please show your dad this thread. Your guinea pig really does need to see a vet asap.

He could be suffering from internal injuries as well as external ones and I imagine he is in pain and shock.

When taking on an animal, it is the duty of the owner to provide veterinary care and not let them suffer.

I do hope that you can get to a vet x
 
Hi there. It's such a difficult position to be in, knowing that your piggy absolutely definitely needs an immediate vet and not having the final say in the matter. Parents will always have their reasons (money, time, work issues etc) and their priorities are not always what the rest of us think they should be! We have strong feelings on this matter as we believe that if a parent lets their child have a pet then it is THEIR ultimate responsibility to care for and support that animal when things go wrong, but we know that peoples opinions vary, and to be fair may have very real reasons why a vet visit is difficult. However the longer it's left the worse the outcome is likely to be for your guinea pig. I'm sorry to say that you must prepare yourself for the worst outcome.
There is nothing we can do to persuade your parents but please do let them know that your guinea pig has little chance of recovery without immediate attention, and please don't be hard on yourself if they refuse.
Please do let us know what happens, we are thinking of you and your piggy and are very much hoping for the best. :hug:
 
It sounds like I am being harsh on your parents. I am sorry.
The fact that we all care deeply about is that your guinea pig is just not likely to have a good outcome at all without immediate vet attention, and we mean immediate. I don't know how old you are, but you are obviously mature and caring enough to come here for help, and I feel you care deeply about your guinea pig. You are in an upsetting situation and hearing that your guinea pig is likely to not make it without seeing a vet is a horrible thing to hear, but I don't believe in pretending that things are going to be OK when they are not likely to be, it would do no good.

The other sad fact is that out of hours emergency vet care is expensive, and your parents have the responsibility of running a household, affording all of the extras, and sometimes it is really hard on finances.

We do have strong feelings because most of us here would find a way, somehow, but ultimately it is your parents that face a dilemma between taking a pig for emergency treatment and their finances.

We all know what's best for your guinea pig. None of us know what is best for your family. Please let them know your pig is likely not to get better without the vet, but please don't be resentful at them if they do not make that decision. Wishing the best of luck x
