Ive just been out to him and his slighty squinting and theres a tiny bit of like wt we call 'sleep' round his eye.

I'm paranoid now that hes got the start of a Upper respiratory infection or something. My partners piggy just had 1 ( no chance of passing it on we live 40mins apart ) and had to get pts because it was too far gone 8...

But now we are both clued up on it, one of the first symptoms is this with the eye.

I may be over reacting because hes a nutter of a pig who sometimes walks into his bottle and gets water in his eye but it hasnt looked like this before :...

Shall i just clean it up and see :/

Thanks :)

It looks rather like the beginnings of an eye infection to me - you piggy may have a bit of hay stuck in its eye.

You can try and careful wash out the eye with some boiled and cooled water or have your piggy seen by a vet.

Thanks i'l wash it now.

Il monitor it & see it how it goes :)

It wouldnt suprise me if there was sumthing in there as he stands on the edge of his food bowl to tip it- to get his fav bits out lol
He has 2 pot bowls side by side 1 for hay 1 for his pellet food and when hes hungry he clangs them together lol

Sounds very similar to a problem Willow had a few weeks ago.

It seemed to clear and then re-occur over a couple of weeks. I'd been cleaning with Optrex for a day or two, but it made no difference :( She had a quick trip to the vets and they gave her some anti-septic drops/cream and it cleared in just a day and hasn't come back.

The vet put some dye in her eye and shone a light in and said there were some very fine scratches to the surface of her eye.

How is his eye doing today? If the only symptom is the slightly weepy eye, the odds are that it's a problem just with the eye. Hay pokes/scratches commonly lead to a weepy eye. I do understand your concern though, it's difficult when you've recently lost a pig, I found I was very concerned about anything unusual in my own pigs after losing two close together.

Have been monitoring it and thankfully its gone :<>

Fingers crossed it wont return

Thanks for the support & advice :rose
