My baby cavy pip is about 6/7 months abd she loves to zoom ! she runs around the cage like it’s a pin ball machine... I think that’s the reason she keeps losing a tooth ! it’s happened a few times with the same tooth but last time both of her top front teeth broke and i had to mush her food for her which she wasn’t keen on.. I am pretty sure she is getting enough calcium from the diet i feed them; it’s rich in herbs, kale, peppers etc.
any other suggestions of what might be causing it other than banging into things ? and how to prevent it from happening? i’m worried she’s not getting her fair share of the food because she can’t eat as quickly !

I agree with the above, I would get to a vet to see if there is any problem with the piggies mouth.

My boy Bill broke an incisor at gum level last year. Was seen immediately by a local vet. It grew back within 6 weeks. His incisors are rather untidy in shape and he has them filed down and reshaped by Simon Maddock in Northampton every 2 months or so. Problems can arise when the root nerve is damaged, this can change the way the tooth grows back, it can become very “fat” which can then lead to unbalancing the other incisors as they wear oddly against each other, and can become so thin they break too. It is worth seeing a piggie savy vet to make sure this is not happening. My Bill is going tomorrow to local vet for the incisors burring as they have grown very quickly since his last dental at the end of February, and his appointment in Northampton is at the end of the month.

It's likely to be something inherited, or the root is damaged or infected in some way. Please get her checked out by an experienced vet
