I've always put it down to just their personality, as they are really happy and comfortable with me. They know to go straight to their foodbowl when their cage has been sweeped out and stare at me until they get their veggies, and Butter knows that if she stands on her back legs and peeps at me over the correx, I will most likely give in and give her a pea flake, but they don't wheek for food! I'm just not sure if it's normal?

Some piggies don't wheek.... Do they make any kind of noise?

One of our first girls never made a noise of any type at all - he was a quiet piggy.

Yeah, they're quite vocal, they just haven't discovered their wheek I don't think!

They may surprise you then! Apparently it is a noise only done for our benefit.

My Kasper wheeked around twice in almost 4 years! I think Quinn stole his wheek...

I thought my two were never going to make a sound ever but after a few weeks they started to quietly squeak away to each other and then after a month of having them went by (Ive had them 3 months) I was in the kitchen preparing their brekky and I got wheeked at so loud I almost cut my finger off lol. Now they never shut up and I'm constantly being watched everytime i go to the kitchen (they are in the dining room connected to the kitchen).

We have had 8 piggies so far and only one has been a regular wheeker - and she only discovered her voice after her sister (who was dominant) died. Some have been virtually completely silent and the others make lots of other noises but very little wheeking. They are all so different - don't worry.

I'm not too worried- just wanted to check this was normal. I can tell their mood from the noises they make and their body language, they get very excited for food and know when they're supposed to get it. As long as they're happy- I'm happy!

My boys are well trained in the art of Shrieking at Your Human for Food, but some pigs are just quiet. Odd, that. Still, your hearing remains intact:mal:

My three are quite quiet, they don't wheek at all when they're in their C&C upstairs (summer and now, until I insulate the shed!) , they chatter about though amongst themselves. They (or at least one of them) wheek a lot when they're down stairs on the dining room floor as well as chuttering whilst they run around. Chewie sound like she needs oiling! They wheek when they're in the shed if they hear us in the garden and think they might get food. I think it's because I always give them food when I see them upstairs, so they don't need to squeak, but in the shed and downstairs, I wander about and we're there, but potentially not feeding them so they try their luck!
