Hanwombat
Senior Guinea Pig
Well as some of you may know one of my ponies Roz was PTS this morning. She suffered from Degenerative Suspensory Ligament Disease, which basically meant her fetlocks were dropping towards to ground in her hind legs due to loose ligaments.
We had her for nine years and the past few weeks she has struggled more with her dropped fetlocks and was finding it hard to walk.
So today at around 11am, the vet came to put her to sleep as well as a huntsmen to take her away to have a communal cremation.
My mum and I gave Roz a nice groom so she looks even more beautiful and my mum decided to leave the two rugs on her when she died.
The vet gave her a sedative and a few minutes later she was given the lethal injection. Myself, my mum, my bf and my dad all watched and about 10 seconds after the injection she slowly and gracefully went down on her knees and laid flat out. We went over to her and within a few minutes she was gone.
She looked so peaceful and she went so elegantly. We couldn't have asked for a nicer way for her to die.
We when all walked away as she was hoisted onto the trailer ( as it isn't nice to see ) and then she was gone forever.
Roz's companion of nine years, my other horse Hollie, watched the whole thing from the next field and since then keeps looking over to where Roz was pts and neighing for her sister. She is very sad, which makes it more upsetting as she has lost her companion.
We had Roz for nine wonderful years and she died at the grand old age of 30.
Many people knew Roz as she was a ex riding school pony and she was always known as the naughty mare who would buck people off, we were lucky enough to have seen a much calmer side to Roz and she very muched enjoyed being loved.
It was very sad to not have her with us this afternoon as its always been Hollie & Roz.
We miss her so much but we are happy she is free of pain and suffering.
Here are a few pictures from over the years;
With her sister Hollie
And here she is about 30 mins before she left us this morning
Goodbye Roz, she made life that much happier, its sad you're gone but you are now free of pain and discomfort.
I will see you again, someday
Love you xxxxx
