My little man Lucky hasnt been his self all day so this evening i got him out of his cage he had a inch and a half long piece of hay stuck in the end of his penis in the hole bit there was only a small bit sticking out. I gently removed and there was no sign of blood or any discharge he was very grateful and gave me lots of hugs. Do you think i should take him to the vets to be on the safe side or just monitor him and see how he does?

Hi love OUCH that must've been so dam uncomfortable for him 8...8...
To be honest i'd get it checked out..... they might suggest some bathing or something, sorry not sure.
Gentle healing wheeeeeeks from Dukey for him xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
and well done to you for noticing it xx>>>

He stayed in his house all day even at feeding times thats how i knew something was up so i got him out checked is ears eyes nose teeth feet and then i thought i would check down that end and there was a tiny bit of green hay on it tried to brush it away and thats when i realised it was stuck in there so i gently pulled it out. It seemed to have been sucked up there if that makes sense. Bless him he was so grateful when i took it out he snuggled into my neck and made his happy noise. Hes normally not one for to many hugs!

:{ Oh i have had this before. Well not me personally but my boar Ozzy did. I couldnt believe how long it was when i pulled it out :o

Did ozzy have any problems afterwards dont want to stress him out with a trip to the vets if its not worth it.

my guiea pigs have that sometimes but they always seem fine in the end
i suggest more veggies or maybe the type of hay is difficult for him to digest
anyway i'm not to good on this myself :... but i'm taking my guinea pig to the vets in a few days so i can ask him for you

I've been keeping boars years and have lost count of the times I've had to pull hay out of their bits, they obviously do not enjoy the intrusion and give you those " I want my dignity back eyes" but in my experience have not suffered any ill affect afterwards.

oops! poor boy! must've been very uncomfortable! thank goodness you've got it out

my boars get it all the time, its nothing to worrry about, he will be fine!

i always check their bits for this anyway on a daily basis so just keep an eye out for the little man!

Yeah ive had this with archie, he once had a sore/red looking dinkle from a piece of hay being there, i removed it and the redness went down and he was fine :)
