:( Ok, so we have just been down to the beach so the dogs could have a run as they didnt go yesterday and i felt bad.

look at what happened to my little baby boy......

Heidi has taken a chunk out of him, poor little thing i was nearly sick when i saw it :)>>>

I have rung the emergency vet for advice and she said he should be ok until tomorrow, awwwwww my baba :0
 
Oh no! That's a nasty bite :(. Poor little man. What made her do that? Hope he's ok. Good luck at the vets tomorrow :).
 
they were just play fighting as they always do, I'm surprised its taken a year and a bit for a chunk to come out, hey ho, kids will be kids :(

She didnt do it viciously, they just run at each other and act mental x
 
thank you all, he looks so pathetic laid on the settee, he is a big old baby at the best of times. :))
 
you know what, ive been looking again, and I'm not so sure its a bite, i think he may have got caught on something.......I'm going back tomorrow to see if i can find his flap of skin!!

Have you tried cleaning the wound? I have always used salt water to clean any of my pets and mine and my kids wounds to help avoid infection and it really works! And with dogs mouths being full of bacteria it might be a good idea. Just boil some water in the kettle, put it in a medium sized mug and add about 2 table spoons of salt and stir with a sppon that you have rinsed in boiling water until all the salt is melted. Cool the water until its luke warm (best way is to stand the mug in a saucepan of cold water) and then using cotton wool soak it in the water and wipe the wound once or twice DO NOT put it back in the water, use a clean piece. It wont harm the animal in any way but it may sting so best have somone holding to your pet. Hope it helps :)
 
Poor little boy. That looks very sore.
Even fuzzy children play rough, it seems! I do hope he's alright, though :(
 
the vet recommended using salt water but she said it should be ok until we get there this morning, to be honest its a bit deep and i didnt want to touch it, he hasnt licked it and it has been able to breath all night so hopefully my boy will be ok x
 
ok, so he has gone in, he is having a g/a and stitches and antibiotics, awww bless him, i hope they are prepared for a wimpy little whippet crying and being a big old baby, awww bless.....

god only knows what they are gonna stitch, theres nothing there!

Aww, bless him :( Poor boy. Our whippet cross got a nasty bite once down his side. It looked pretty messy when they stitched it and he has a line down his side where the scar formed now :( It healed well though.
I hope your boy is ok. Maybe they'll learn not to play so rough :))
Oh, and good luck finding your flap of skin ;) :))

Whats your whippy crossed with? i have another thats crossed with a lab and shes sooooooo pretty, you got any pics?

i just rang the vets but hes under the knife......gulp :{

Awwww hes lovely, looks totally diff to my Heidi tho.

I love anything whippety!

My baby boy is totally totally zonked zzz the vet said it took ages to get him to come round after the g/a and since i brought him home he has been asleep, ive never seen anything like it...hope hes ok.

The gaping hole is now a complete sewn together line, god only knows how tight it feels it was such a big hole!

I cried my eyes out when i got him home, just because i felt overwhelmed that he was still here, and that i could have lost him just for doing a regular thing like taking him for a run.....what is life all about eh? ?/ :(
 
Poor thing :( that's the only downside to sighthounds, their skin is like paper! My boy is covered in scars from causing himself damage.

Hope your dog is OK :(
 
ha ha oh my god Jet is totally full of war wounds!! He always cuts himself bless him, Heidi my other dog gets nothing, awwwwww
