JoBo
Adult Guinea Pig
I went out to do a regular clean out of my outdoor herd on Sunday and one of my girls Nina came up to greet me and let me stroke her and pick her up, this is quite a rarity for any of my outdoor herd, they usually let me stroke them briefly and then they run off.
When i picked Nina up it was immediately apparent that she had lost a lot of weight and due to this i moved her indoors with one of her companions. I kept an eye on her for a few days and she was eating and drinking normally and seemed quite happy.
This morning i took her to the vets and she was examined and the vet noticed that all of her glands were swollen. He said that this would almost certainly indicate a tumour and that there was no treatment for her. Her weight is only 850g. He has given her a shot of precautionary antibiotics and we have brought a course of baytril home with us.
It appears that Nina is terminally ill and i have brought her home and she will remain indoors with Queenie one of her companions from the outdoor herd for the rest of her days. She appears happy enough at the moment and is enjoying her favorite veg.
Any happy vibes for Nina would be much appreciated.
