My poor old Jez pig died this afternoon. He was the surviving half of 'Tom and Jerry' from RSPCA Medway; Tom died about 2 1/2 years ago, and after that Jez lived happily with Rupert (originally Chubby, also from RSPCA Medway)
Based on the age Amanda told us when we adopted Jez, he must have been six, which is not a bad age for a piggie. He'd been showing signs of age the past few weeks; his back legs had become stiff and his sight was deteriorating, but he still enjoyed life. Up until saturday, he was still coming up to the bars for his fresh veg; just that, when Roo got up on his back legs and climbed up the bars, Jez was content to stand next to him and look up.
Yesterday, when poor Jez was too tired to do anything but sleep, Roo snuggled up to him and did his best to comfort him.
Poor Roo is really going to miss his friend.
