are probably traumatized :(. i went downstairs (they live in the basement so they can be safe from the cats) to say hi and give them some food, and somebody decided it would be a good idea to turn the damn light off so it was pitch black when i went down there. i always leave at least one light on for them since its so dark, and it just makes me so sad and angry to think that they were down there alone terrified. that said, do pigs have any night time vision? i think i read somewhere that their eyes aren't very good. i hope they forgive me :(

they have whiskers hun..so dont fret. they would have been fine xx

Hi just wondering what kind of lights you use? As I'm pretty sure you have to use special ones, theyre like 'daylight lights' cause if you use normal lights its not good for theyre eyes and can make them go blind or have vision problems! (Its what Ive heard)

aww bless you, i think i would be the same though. I have a fly zapper in my piggy room which lights the room up nicely, doesnt catch any bloomin flies though!

Guinea pigs do not care for light, they infact prefer it dark, there natural instincts tell them to hide in a dark place hence why they love hideys, being out in the open with light is not anything they usually want or need, the only light they need some of is Sunlight for Vit D, other than that you will notice overtime they are more confident and calm when lights are out, they do adapt to lights of course, i use a dim lamp when possible especially around my red eyed pigs as the bright light hurts there eyes but other than that mine love the dark.
