my poor baby Rocky is poorly.... 8... yesterday i noticed a lump over his eye and its crusty with fur falling out of it. today his eye was completely shut and i found a lump on his back. so took him to the vet and he said its either a skin infection as the lump on his back is the same as on his eye, so he now has a bald patch in his back or he has mites.

so was given antibiotics and eye drops just in case of an eye infection and told to go back in a week if its not cleared up and will get him treated for mites, bless him.....

after reading some stories on here and now my own personal experience, getting them from pets at home was not a good idea!

hope my poorly boy gets better soon :(

Aww I hope he gets sorted soon!

I worry about pets at home now, I've had both good and bad experiences. From now on I'm definitely not using them. If I look to get any piggies in the future they will be from a rescue place.

So sorry to hear about rocky, fingers and paws crossed here :) x

I shall never buy another animal for pets at home again! I brought my two piggies from there, and within 2 days i had to take one of them to the vets! It turned out that he had been malnourished and underfed and as a result he was underdeveloped! From this he now has an eye that is too small for his socket and will not grow to fill it :( he repeatedly gets conjunctivitis and may eventually go blind :(

The service there is terrible and they literally just shoved me out the shop after purchase with no information on how to look after them or anything!

On a happier note! I am glad i brought them and love them to pieces! They are in a much better home now and I am glad that they are out of that horrible place!

I'm sure Rocky will get better as he obviously has a great owner and lots of lovings!

thank you everyone for you well wishes. Rocky seems better today and his eye is now slightly open and him and his buddy Scruffy have been running around the run outside today for the first time since I have had them.

El4anor- so sorry to hear about your lil piggie, i hope he doesnt go blind but your right, they have your loving home now and bet they couldnt be happier.

Rocky is still tiny whereas Scruffy has grown a lot in the week we have had them, you can definitely see the size difference between them. They are both eating fine though and seem to have grown a lot more happier and confident in this past week. Such a shame that pets at home are like this, they are supposed to be there to help and support your pets. I thought at the time my experience with them was good, the guy who served us was friendly and informed me on a bit of info about them. but have found out a lot more from my sister who is mad on pets and is working with dogs at the moment. I originally wanted an all beige piggie with Rocky but when the guy checked him over he said he couldnt let him go as he had a scab on his ear from possibly another piggie fightin with him so he wouldn't sell him to me til he had got his ear to clear up, so I picked Scruffy so Rocky could go home with a buddy. I thought and still think this was a good thing they did as showed me they dont let you take them home if they think something is wrong.

obviously rocky did get poorly but at the time he looked absolutely fine. But i agree with you MOC, next time i would go to a rescue place to get my piggies.
