I'm so upset, one of my girls, Toffee, seemed off colour yesterday do took her to vets and they said they thought she had gastric flu. Tool her for X-ray this morning and got different Meds for her and then tonight, I could see she was struggling for breath. I took her back and they said she now had a chest infection. I can't believe it - she died 30 minutes later. Just can't believe we won't see her again.

Also now worried for Fudge who's left on her own (they were sisters from the same litter). Am I best trying to get a rescue pig around the same age and see if they get on or get 1 or 2 babies for her to 'look' after?

Any advice appreciated thank you.

I cant advise you I'm sorry, but i wanted to say I'm sorry you lost Toffee, rip little girl.

Hope you and Fudge are ok x

I'm really sorry for your loss. You did all you could but unfortunately these things happen.
Popcorn free Toffee! xoxo

As for Fudge, I'd say ring your local rescue and they'll advise you. As long as you get a good personality match I don't think it mattes much on age, especially with girls. x

I'm so very sorry to hear about dear Toffee 8...8...8...
RIP Toffee run free at the bridge, enjoy nibbling on the sweet corn silks and dandelion leafies, and have fun with the other piggies popcorning thru the lush green meadows, you'll be so very sadly missed by your family and friend Fudge but NEVER EVER forgotten xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) and lots of loves from Glynis, Velvet and Onyx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Another little star now twinkling in the sky .................... :(

In the meantime give Fudge a soft teddy (make sure she can't nibble on anything, as in eyes etc..) she may snuggle into the teddy.
Best of luck finding a little friend for her, my girls send friendly brrrrrrrrrrrr's to help her xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Really sorry for the loss of Toffee. Sending you and Fudge lots of love x

RIP Toffee

Hi. Sorry sorry to hear about Toffee. I lost my girl Ethel a few weeks ago and now Dotty is on her own. I have been speaking to Suzy on this forum, who has given me brilliant advice re Dotty. She suggested to leave it a couple of weeks to make sure that whatever Ethel died from was not contagious. Dotty also needs to grieve and realise that Ethel is not coming home.

I have kept a close eye on Dotty (she ended up with a chest infection which I reckon she did catch off Ethel and luckily is now clear). She has been very quiet and hasnt eaten as much, so I have topped her up by syringing her with Critical Care. I have weighed her regularly as well so I can keep an eye on her weight too.

Suzy has very kindly agreed to let me bring Dotty up to her mid January to find her a little friend or two. From what I have read on this forum, bonding guineas together is not always easy so I am very grateful to Suzy, who no doubt will do a fantastic job in helping Dotty,

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on how Toffee gets on. Thinking of you.

xx

So sorry to hear of your loss :( Sending lots of love and wheeks to you and Fudge xx

I'm so sorry for your loss, rest in peace little one x

I am very sorry for your loss. RIP Toffee.

The best place to find a friend for Fudge once she has come out of deep mourning is a rescue that allows you to bring Fudge, so she can make her own choice about who she wants to get on with, be it neutered boar or one or two girls. That way, the bonding happens under expert supervision at the rescue and you only come home with a successful new friendship.

Here is a list of recommended guinea pig rescues in Britain that offer piggy dating. Most rescues are open again in the new year. https://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid=209994852075231951564.0004b8fd9391b4257d8eb&msa=0
