My lovely Tommy has found instant love with a little sow who we have named Luna. She is a shy girl that needs tlc and fattening up.

They bonded as soon as they met and because Tommy is so confident and friendly, he is helping her to be more confident. She must be happy as she has put on 90g in 13 days 👍B3FF62CC-618B-445A-BEA8-A8197F9F1C98.webp
 
Hello Luna you are very pretty!😍and hellooooo Tommy! You are a very handsome chap. So pleased you have found each other. Sounds like a match made in piggy heaven. May you have any happy years together doing bimbly piggy stuff.
 
Great news. Lucky Tommy.
Just keep an eye on Luna’s weight - that’s a big gain in a short space of time. I am not sure where she has come from but is there any chance she has been with an intact boar?

Yes VickiA, I am certainly keeping an eye on Luna’s weight gain 🤔

I have been in hospital for an operation, feeling ok but awaiting biopsy results. Anyway Luna has put on more weight and nearly 200g heavier. She seemed very dehydrated when I got her as her eyes were small but now her eyes are brighter and bigger. Her background is a bit vague ... through a colleague I heard that her friend had 3 guinea pigs and wanted to reduce to 2 and 1 was going to be advertised on gumtree free to collect. As I was looking for a single sow to be a wife pig to Tommy I thought yes this is fate - Tommy will be happy to have a friend as it is very difficult to find a single sow in a rescue.
Tommy loves Luna but if she was pregnant he cannot be the dad as he was neutered on 9th July.
I really hope Luna is not pregnant ... checking her tummy sometimes I think yes there is something there particularly on her left hand side and then sometimes not. But I don’t want to stress her out as she is still settling in.

Many years ago I adopted a baby piggy that was unwanted because she was blind. I named her Princess and guess what ... yes she put on a lot of weight quickly and at 16 weeks old gave birth to 2 babies ... one sow stillborn and a boar which I kept and called him Junior.

Hopefully Luna is just happy and enjoying herself with Tommy and the variety of food but only time will tell.

She may well just be enjoying good food and developing her adult frame. Here’s hoping. You are quite right. Only time will tell. Just be sure not to overfeed pellets in case she is pregnant as you don’t want large babies if she is carrying any.

Thanks @VickiA ... yes I am feeling ok just keen to receive my biopsy results.

Thanks for your advice about Luna. I feed my piggies on Science Selective and only give them a little amount per day and to be honest they don’t eat many pellets at all really. Although I have had pregnant piggies before many years ago, I really can’t decide at the moment whether Luna is pregnant or not. Looking at Tommy, he has a rounded tummy and so does Cherry who lives with Peanut. Peanut will always be slim as she is such a fussy eater 🙄 🤔
 
Oh yes ... you were right @VickiA ... Luna is expecting!

I was hoping it was just weight gain because she was happy but I did have my suspicion as the weight gain was so rapid.

I will start a new post about Luna and her progress ... fingers crossed all will be well for her and her babies x
 
Great news that Luna's settling in as they're both adorable! 😍
