Adult Guinea Pig
Chewie died last night. Went in to give BB her eye drops and Chewie was in their extendable tunnel, not moving. I prodded the tunnel (a lot) and she managed to stagger part of the way out and her head was all wobbly and kind of jerking around. Scooped her up and she was like a rag doll and her eyes were dull. Took her to the 24 vets not thinking she’d even make it that far, but she did so they just sent her on her way. I think it might have been a stroke or some thing like that.
Makes me question changes in her behaviour over the last few weeks. Someone had a upset tummy about a month ago that took a while to settle, but it did. I thought it was Chewie but didn’t know for sure. She was extra chatty and zoomy the last couple of weeks too. Kind of the opposite to what I would expect a sick pig to do.
Her sisters seem OK, maybe a little subdued but it’s difficult for me to tell as they got shoved around by Chewie so maybe they’re not running around so much because she’s not there to make them. At least they have each other. The next one to go will be worse, as I don’t think I want to continue a cycle of piggies :-(
