Hey guys, I'm wondering if any of you might have previous experience with strange lumps on pigs and might be able to tell me a bit more? I found a small pea sized lump on my pig a couple of weeks ago but since we were on holiday miles from the vet I thought I'd wait and see if it did anything because it didn't seem to be hurting her or bothering her at all. Since then it's not really changed though she now doesn't like me touching it. I don't know if you can see much in the photo but there's a little redish blackish dot on her skin, which leads me to think it could be an ingrown hair maybe? Is that something pigs can get? How is it treated? What else could it be?
Advices please!

I would take her to the vet, if it's now painful. May be the start of an abscess, it's better to go then wait until it turns nasty. If it's nothing then it will put your mind at rest.

Please see a vet if she doesn't like to be touched.

I don't think it's painful otherwise I would have taken her straight to the vets, I think she's just getting annoyed at me poking around it so much! I'm more looking for any ideas about what it could be?

I agree with the above comments, you need to go to a vet to get a correct diagnosis,it can be very hard to know from a picture.you can hopefully put your guinea pig and your mind at rest.

Hi, one of my boars had this on his tummy and I took him to the vets, they told me that it was ingrown hair. He said it was benign but I should keep a watch out for any swelling along his sides and to check if the lump has grown, if the lump grows then it could be an infection and they can have it removed..if it doesn't grow at all and isn't hurting your piggy then it shouldn't do any harm, a good way of monitoring the lump is to shave the fur around that area so that you can actually see the lump..hope this relates to you, if you would like to see any pics of mine for reference then just let me know
