I was cutting Cocoa's nails and he wiggled and I cut the quick! It's bleeding a little bit! He doesn't seem to be in pain though, he is running around playing. What do i do!? I feel so terrible
Please contact a vet if the bleeding doesn't stop after 10-15 minutes, which it usuallt does.
Disinfect the nail with saline solution once it has dried off. You make saline by mixing 1 teaspoon into 1/2 pint/250 ml boiled cooled water.
Your piggy may feel a bit sorry for itself for a day or two, but it should not impede it much. The nail should grow back if a bit thicker, depending on how badly the quick has been damaged.
