Nail Clipping - Fail !

So i took the girls out for cuddles and thought " nails are a little bit long '..... ended up catching Gladys and she bled ! I put a bit of flour on the end and it wasn't ' dripping lots '..... keep checking her .... bad mummy.....
 
We had one that would *scream* and struggle whenever she knew her nails were going to be done, which of course made it more likely that she'd get hurt, especially as she had black nails. We let the vet do it every time so when she did get hurt, it was the vet who was the baddy!

I've got a girl who does this. My poor OH was really concerned that something awful was happening the other week when I took her up to the bathroom to attempt to trim her nails..... all I'd done was take hold of one front paw! Talk about screaming, poor pig sounded like I was killing her.
 
You feel awful.... she is fine now...ran straight up under my chin afterwards....
 
I've caught Ambers nail before. Shes the only one who squrims around and squeals loudly.

It sounds like I'm about to kill her before I've even touched her nail!

I still feel awful about the one time I cut my girls nail too short. I always make sure I have styptic powder on hand just in case!
 
I'm in the US but I bought it at a pet supply store, they usually have it by the dog grooming stuff but when I worked at a pet store I even used it on a parakeet who had been fighting once. You could order fancy gel stuff online that dog groomers use that is supposed to be numbing but the regular powder does the trick and I've only ever needed it once.
 
I've done this before too. You do feel guilty but they will be ok. We r only trying to do the best for our piggies.
 
Oh god i need to do mine for the first time this week I'm dreading it! Feels like a baby! Remember catching my little girls finger as a teeny baby i felt so bad x
 
Can you file their nails?

It's coming near time to do my guys paws and I'm dreading it :(
Clipping my mother's Shih Tzu's nails is a two man job and takes forever because they're so small and he's such a drama queen.... I can only imagine the horrors of piggy pedicures that lie ahead of me...

That's the exact same clippers I bought today!

I'm glad to report Sunny's first nail trim went down without so much a wheek :D he was super calm and it was all done in less than a minute!
