As my pigs are living on fleece they don't have anything to wear down their nails. I left it a bit too long in between trimming and now the quick on some of their nails is too long to trim their nails down to a suitable length. I took them out to run around the kitchen on the hard wood floor today but I think their feet are hurting them. Is there anything I can do to get their nails back to a normal?

I'm sure I read somewhere that if that happens you can give them much more frequent small nail trims and the quick will shorten again. Can anyone confirm this ?
Mine are on fleece too and I did wonder about putting sandpaper or something onto my ramp for them in case it would help (or something like the roof felt you get on hutch ramps).

You can trim a quick back over time if you cut the dead nail back as far as you safely can frequently. This pushes the quick back, so you can cut a bit further back every time you do it.

If you keep trimming it back as much as you can, then the quick recedes. Well apparently, I've never had to do it with my pigs but I'm a dog groomer and that's what we learnt in college. 
If you do accidentally cut the quick a little, then don't worry too much, the bleeding will stop soon enough and they will be fine and hopefully forget about it Some animals don't even seem to notice if it gets cut, but some make a big fuss.
