I think I've seen a few threads in the last days from people who don't usually cut their pigs' nails but are having to do so because of lockdown. We were in the same boat and I just wanted to say that I can't recommend the video that's linked in the nail cutting sticky enough.

It went so much better doing it the way the lady showed than the last time we tried. I felt way more confident and, although the guineas didn't love it, they also didn't behave as though they were being actively tortured!

We also gave them a sprig of parsley to munch on while we were snipping as recommended by someone in the forum which kept them busy and stopped them nipping my arm instead (although I did wear long sleeves to be on the safe side).

The other thing I would say is that ended up accidentally cutting the quick in one of Marshmallow's toes which was something I was very worried about. He actually didn't seem much more bothered about it than he was about the general having his foot held onto experience.

In general just wanted to recommend the video and hopefully give any other nervous beginner nail clippers like myself maybe the extra confidence boost they need!

Glad it went well for you. I’ve never taken mine to the vet for a clip, it’s not convenient for me really. But they’re generally well behaved though so try to ‘fight’ me when I get their foot. Two are angels and the other two are a little defiant 🤣 I like their feisty spirits though
