For those of you with outdoor pigs that have access to a grassy run most of the year do you still cut their nails?

Yes! All guinea pigs need their nails cut, no matter what. My pigs have a cobbled outdoor run, so don't need them trimmed as often, but I still cut their nails once every 2 months, or more often if needed.

Hi! Since you are in Scotland, it it very important that you please read these tips here. Guinea pigs are not winter hardy piggies that cope well with the extremes (both heat and cold) or big temperature swings. They should be treated more like tender plants, and now is the time of the year to bring them under cover before you gradually harden them off again in spring and bring them out once the danger of night frosts has gone.

Thanks, my pigs are indoors and will stay there till about April. We are in lowland Scotland and East so we’re quite lucky with the weather. They definitely won’t be outside if there’s any danger of frost 😊
