No worries. I'm assuming you are asking about parasite control in your piggie. Generally many piggie owners do not tend to treat their pigs with these kinds of things, but its all about personal preferance. Piggies dont get fleas, so no need to flea treat them, they do however often pick up mites, fungal infections and the new thinking is that they can also carry worms.

Some owners decide to worm there piggies about every 3-4months, i do this, many/most dont. Some people like to treat for external parasites (mites etc) with ivermectin on a regular bases. The best thing you can do is buy good quality hays, keep their home nice and clean and bathe reguarly to help prevent skin conditions. Have a look at the gorgeous guinea website, some info there, and some great products. www.gorgeousguineas.co.uk

So in short, its all about opinion.

Would you know about mites under skin by sores appearing?

I endorse what's already been said - the best cure is prevention. Mites can flare up when piggies are under stress which can happen to the best of owners. If your piggie starts to scratch, lose hair etc, the best thing to do (unless you are sure of your diagnosis) is to book a trip to the vet...

I use GGs shampoos and melts every month on my boar who is prone to fungal and every 6-8 weeks on the rest as a preventive, plus it gets them beautifully clean.

I don't worm my piggies, but I constantly keep looking at this, particularly in the early summer when I put them out on the grass again.

Once every month I trim their nails, although occasionally I've had to do it more often. I just check their nails every lap time.

I worm my piggies every 3 months as a precaution because living where we do they get heaps of grass time. They seem to like the taste of the worm syrup.

Piggies don't get fleas, but they do get fungus, mites and lice. So every 3 months I spray them with a mite and lice spray below the neck, again as a precaution. But I do check their hair and skin every lap time as the spray is no protection against fungal infection and the spray may not work against the other nasties.
