how often should you clip your pigs nails? it seems like every 10 days or so they need them clipped before they start to curl up

I find it depends on the piggy, if you keep a young pigs nails trimmed you will encounter less problems as they get older. The older they get, the harder and more likely they start to curl/bend round.

Mine are clipped every 2 weeks but the nails are checked every week on clean out.

Nails do grow more quickly when piggies are young, but they are generally straighter and tend to curl more the older they get although I have had old piggies with straight nails and those with such tight curls that any cutting was very difficult - and yet they all had the same care. Some nails can also thicken as piggies age. Cutting light nails is much easier than cutting completely black ones. Nail growth can also differ from guinea pig to guinea pig.
