OK, the pigs that came in today are called Gerty and Bramble, and Squiffy and Squaffy. Now usually if they've already got names, I leave them (unless there is already a pig here with the same name). But do you think they're more likely to get homes if they have 'good' names? Should I rename Squiffy and Squaffy?

Do people choose them because of their names?

I dont think names matter as new owners tend to rename them anyways. Nothing wrong with squiffy and squaffy nice unusual names!

I think they are cute names but people do rehome them. Flora and Fleur were called Milly and Molly which I loved but we were getting confused with Caitlin's friend Milly and Emily's friend Molly! :D

I dont think you should change there names as I think they are cute and anyway most people change the name when they adopt anyway.

I can only say that i personally choose a pig by how it looks and its personality and the name is irrelevant but everyone is different.

But theres no reason for you not to change their names if you want to as they are now yours even if only for a short time.

Thanks everyone - it's just I went to list them on Guinea Pig Rehome and stopped when it got to the bit where you put their name and thought 'I can't put that!' - I'll leave their names as they are for now.

Mine get renamed some funny things - Timon and Pumba became Mark and Jeremy!

When I met the pigs I wanted to adopt, I ignored the names. I remember "Pistachio" was a tiny, 4 week old pig when she arrived at the rescue where I volunteered (hence meeting her long before adopting). She struck me because of her colouring and the fact she was the tiniest and most timid in the group. In the days before I brought her home, I selected a few different names to try with her. Same with all my other adopted pigs.

"Pistachio" became Jasmine, by the way. :)
