Recently in the last month or so I have changed the piggies cage set up and now they have access to their old toilet corner again which I put a fleece pee pad down to protect the fleece liner underneath from getting wet. They have been peeing heaps lately because of their increased intake of water now the weather is getting a lot hotter and are having their pads changed twice a day because they get wet but the girls have decided they love when the pads are wet and just sprawl out on it have have a nice comfy looking soggy pee soaked nap (no class these two I tell you). Are they just doing this because the temperature over here is getting hotter and is it healthy for them to be doing this, can they get rashes or sores or something? Obviously apart from being gross I have no real issue with it but I just want them to be safe. Their pee pads under their hidey's are bone dry so I think most of their pee is done in this corner.

Haha pigs will be pigs.

Maybe you could put a brick in their cage so they have something cold to lay against. Or maybe freeze a water bottle in the fridge and put it in their cage. I prefer the brick method, though I guess a cold rock would work too.

That way they’d have their pee pad corner place and a separate place to keep cool.

If they were lying in soaking wet bedding they may get urine scalds, but as you are changing the pads regularly I don't think it will be a problem. I have found my piggies are like young humans, they change their mind on what they like every couple of weeks. I've had to put extra pee pads around my cage at the moment because Rusty wee's where he lies, it's easy to just change them when damp.
I wonder if they are doing it because they feel a bit unsettled after the cage change and they are scenting themselves! Funny little things!
If you think they are doing it because they are hot the frozen bottle wrapped in a tea towel is a good idea, some people also use a ceramic tile.

My piggies just pee wherever! But I use Vetfleece that wicks away the pee to the underneath absorbent layer so that they aren’t actually in contact with any wet. I just change this fleece every other day plus the wet absorbent layers.

We have had the aircon on the last couple of days so maybe they will eventually stop feeling the need to do it but I am spending the day making thicker pee pads for that corner just in case. They are strange little creatures and they each have some really bizarre habits that they seem to teach each other and that i'm sure seem really normal to them.
