I've been keeping an eye on this bite on Pooka's back and I think it's healing alright but he seems to be losing his fur around it. We're not 100% sure when it happened, just a bit worried something might be wrong now!

The first pic was the bite yesterday, second pic is today. Should I get him to the vets?

Looks like it's healing fine. Just press down on the scabbed area to ensure there's no squishy area beneath it. If there is it's best to try soaking the scab off again and applying some Manuka honey or Aquagel to help healing. Looks fine though in the photo.

Please see a vet; it looks like a fungal infection. It actually looke like a scab has come off. These bites or scratches are usually self-inflicted in these cases.

Yes I agree with Wiebke it could be ringworm I can't see what I would call a bite anywhere. It's a good idea to check with the vet.

He's going down to the vets tonight!

If you come home with a diagnosis of fungal, please take the time to read our guide. Hygiene is very important; The guide tells you all about it to help you get on top of it and prevent a return. If you step in right away, it never gets to be a huge problem.

All the best!

Difficult to say from a photo, but l would think it is a clean bite that will heal quickly, though best air on the side of caution and let a vet look at it

The vet has said it looks like he's just nibbled off the hair around it and it's just a bite. He's given us some antibiotics for Pooka and hopefully it'll heal up nicely. If it's still looking weird in a week or if the others start getting scratchy, I'm taking them back for another look!

Keep an eye on it. In my experience if it isn't a bite then it can escalate quickly. A week or so before I went on holiday Daisy got fungal but not on her face, just in front of her front leg where it was hard to see. We had so much to do that week that I hadn't handle them and we went from nothing there on the Monday to a 50p piece size scabby patch by the Saturday.

I'll bear that in mind and keep a close eye on it :s thank you for the advice!
