Natural Diet

I've got 5 guinea pigs and everyday they each get:

- A small amount of pellets
- A bowl of fruit and veg, usually veg, rarely fruit
- Unlimited hay
- A few big handfuls of grass if they can't go out in the run

As i live in the uk it is hard to find decent pellets and as with all pet foods i worry what i put into them. Can a guinea pig live a healthy life on hay, grass, fruit and veg? Has anyone done this? Any advice is appreciated.
 
The diet you are giving them is fine,it is all they need.I give mine 3 bowls of mixed veg per day,but 2 bowls would be fine.Give as much variety as you can because every type of veg has different levels of vitimins.The dry mix I use it Rabbit Royale which has no chemicals.My piggies do very well on it.

I use Supa Guinea Excel I find this the best for my lot. :)

I haven't taken away the pellets as they do eat them but the diet should be 80% hay, 15% veg and 5% pellets. They do have some vit c in (well the good ones do anyway) so I wouldn't omit then fully. :)

Pudsey and Eccles eat the pellets first. And you know all of them act like they have never been fed! It's mad! They get so much. The 13 go through 1 bag a hay a day this is a large bag as well! 10 veggies a day in 2 portions sometimes 3 depending on the size of the leafs.

Funny things they are! :)
 
I use the supa excel too. The one in the shiny pink bag. After trying lots of different pellets they love this one. They've always eaten what i put in their. I suppose it doesn't matter too much as other foods make up most of their diet.

?shiny pink bag ? mine comes in an orange bag are there two types then?
 
The burgess one is orange. I feed the wagg optimum premium guinea food which is metallic silver and pink. It says guinea so it's definately not rat food lol. I don't know why i said supa excel. Probably because i used to feed that.
