The pigs are on burgess pellets, and in January this year we ordered some bunny guinea pig dream pellets, on the bottom of the packet it says in German 02/16 I'm presuming that means best before February 2016? Anyway, the pellets have already been opened and I was meant to start the transition phase ages ago and the pigs had a little nibble on the but that was it.

My question is, can I begin to try and start the pigs on this packet?

I would get them started on them as soon as possible. I tried them but my piggies just wouldn't have them x

My Amos has been eating Bunny Guinea Pig Food for over a year. He loves them and is super lively one them. He is quite a greedy pig so I think that helped convert him from pellets to Bunny so easily. An older guinea pig was less convinced with the Bunny. But I did not persevere with him as I had to separate Amos and Sergei after they fell out in a big way. You only have to give 5 (full sized pellets a day) so the bags last a long time. So if I were you I would try and use them as soon as possible. Try and convert all you pigs as it will be much more economical that way. Initially mix a few Bunny pellets broken up with a few ordinary pellets. Then gradually reduce the ordinary pellets. So hopefully the transition to full Bunny pellets will be successful.

Ah thank you, glad to hear they are still safe to use :)
