I had my Boar done at just over 4 months old but most vets will say 6months old for a neuter. My Boar was a huge piggie though that why my vet did him so early
Like pumpkin says, depends a lot on the size...some vets will say 4, some 6, some even 8...the general age seems to be 6 months though
Just make sure your vet has a good success rate, and make sure you 'shop around' as prices can vary sooo much from place to place, so can guinea knowledge unfortunatly! : ;D
Our vet has 500g in weight as the minimum regardless of age. Though some vets don't like to do young guineas because the skin is different to that of older pigs so go with what your vet is happy with
I would go for good rather than cheap- if its cheap as well then its a bonus. Make sure the nurses know what to do with guineas who aren't eating post op. Ours come round within 30 minutes.
Where are you, lots of rescues have their boars neutered it might be a good idea to go to one of them?
My vets did Brian at 12 wheeks old but that was 2 years ago so could be different now. From personal experience having had 2 done at different ages, I would now leave them longer to mature a little
