Need A Vet In/near Glasgow Confident In Piggy Surgery..

My ovarian cyst girl, 4 yrs old, is needing speyed. She had gonadotropin injections whoch shrunk the cysts and reduced hormonal/aggression symptoms, but has now been diagnosed with a badly diseased uterus which has caused her guts to be slowing down/ gas and abdo pain. We are seeing a specialist that only does a wednesday. Last week he said she needs spayed in the weeks to come but not an emergency- since then she has needed loxicom daily and is losing weight, i am
Now syringe feeding her. Spoke to said vet tonight, he cant fit her in tomorrow, and will be on holiday for the next two weeks! I'm not leaving her potentially 3 weeks, its too risky. I dont want to wait and then wish id had her op'd on sooner. My ususal vet has some exotic experience but i want to know if theres anyone out there with more experience in my area.

I'm in paisley and normally travel an hour each way to see the specialist which is in cumbernauld. apex vets is further again and is actually where the specialist has a second practice. But anymore info on them from experiences would be good.

If it comes to it, i think my usual vet is my second best option. She isnt inexperienced as such and actually has good piggy knowledge, its just she was the one that was very unwilling to spay her in the first place which now leaves us here.. Its a tricky one.
 
To be honest I wouldn't trust any other vet with my pig's. Glenn is the vet I see.

Personally I've never needed to Spay any of mine, he has however done multiple procedures for my lot.

Glen has never lost any of mine under GA, he's also taken multiple blood samples over the years for me. It might be worth phoning and enquiring.

Thank you, would be too far for my heart piggy as she gets easily stressed in the car but might be an option for crunchie- thank you
 
I use Taylor vets in Cathkin Glasgow I think they are very good and a few of their vets are very knowledgeable when it comes to guinea pigs
especially Laura who has 5 piggies of her own but she's on maternity leave till January I think, the other vet who specialises in piggies is Eileen.

Might give them a call tomorrow, i used to live out near that way but havent used them in quite a few years. Used to use them with my dog so wouldnt really have known who was pig savvy! Thank you
 
It's worth calling round and speaking to the vet. Ask how often they have done the operation and survival rate, if they've had any post op complications etc.

A spay doesn't seem to be a standard operation.
