So, this may a long post so I apologize...

I had two 1-year old male guinea pigs but just a couple weeks ago, the older one unexpectedly passed away right after his first birthday (the other one is perfectly healthy). They were introduced as adolescents so they had dominance issues and sometimes got into big fights, but other than that they got along fine.
Right now, my current pig, Nox, is living alone and doesn't seem too bothered, but I'm extremely worried because he's been acting much more attached to me and squeeking very loudly whenever he hears any movement (never did that before), leading me to think he's lonely.

I know that I should adopt another pig, but since the unexpected death I'm not quite emotionally ready to give my heart to another animal, but I know its best for my piggy to have a brother.
He doesn't seem to mind being alone, and is aggressive, but should I get another guinea pig very soon or can I wait a few weeks until I'm ready?

Honestly I don't exactly what I'm asking but ever since my baby died, I'm just a little lost as what I should do. I just want to have Nox live his best life.

Just looking for advice

It's always best to have a pair, as piggies are herd animals and wired to be with other piggies. As you say it sounds like he's missing his pal, and looking for company from you, but you can't be with him all the time.
There's no harm in waiting a few weeks, unless your piggy is depressed, in which case it becomes urgent for him to get a pal.
You can try the rescues in the tab at the top of the page, some of which do dating, where your boy can try being with other piggies to see how they get on. This gives you the best chance of a successful bonding. Read the bonding information which will help if you need to bond them yourself. Good luck x

:agr: Waiting a few weeks will not harm him, it will give you both time to grieve x
