hi peeps how are we all on this fine sunday mornin now i purchased a new piggie on friday and when i got my new piggie i also purchased a bag of burgess excel the only **** is smudge isnt eating the excel and I'm a little worried that he wont be getting every thing in his diet so can all you lovely peeps suggest something diffrent other than excel plans are to go out in abit and get smudge something he will eat

do you have an asda near you, they sell wagg guinea pig food which piggies seem to like. Mine dont like burgess either.

yes we have a asda 5 mins away do you feed yours museli or pellet as i know alot of people round my area that keep piggies order the wagg pellet food as they dont sell it in the shops

Your pigs diet should consist of approx 80% hay, 15% veg and only 5% hard food. If they're getting their veg and hay, just stick with it, eventually when they realise they're not getting anything else they'll start to eat it.

i would give the pig a few days to settle in and if * really wanna be precise count how many pellets you put in the bowl as he may come out grab a few and then hide from you, pigs can take a long time to settle in, it was a good 3-4 days beforre mine ate its pellet food. do you know what it was on whre you got it from? perhaps it needs time to adjust to a new food? Id say give the piggy time or if need be scatter some food in its hide house and put some hay near the door for extra encouragement,, they are pretty shy when you first take them home

after a long conversation with my hubby and the advice every one as given me on here ive decided to stck with the excel and see how things go thank you peeps :)
