So I was at the pet-store today and a guy brought in 3 female baby guinea pigs and I heard him telling the employees that he could not take car of them anymore. he had an accidental litter and they where part of it if it makes sense. I talked to him and he showed me papers of him taking the babies to the vet I feel really bad for them, and i never got to adopt the male guinea pigs. What should I do ?!

First, at the beginning you say female, and at the end you say Male - which were they? I only ask because being three piggies, if they are Male, then you cannot keep three males together long term as there will be fights, so that may influence your decision. If they are three Males then you will either need to get a fourth Male so that you can turn them into two separate pairs. Or if your current pigs are female, then one of the males can be neutered and hopefully bonded with any females that you may have, leaving the other to two males together as a pair
Ultimately whether you get more piggies is down to you - do you have the space (males need a bigger cage as a minimum size (150cm x 60cm) than females), do you have the money and time to care for more?

It's never a good idea to adopt pets without thinking it through.

Pet shops have their faults but these babies have as good a chance as any of finding a lovely family. And you won't be doing them any favours if you rush out and get them and later realise you've taken on too much.

If you have time, and space, and money - bearing in mind that if it's three males, you're most likely to have to get another pig so they can live as two separate pairs, in addition to your current pigs - then by all means go ahead.

Whole heartedly agree with responses above. It is time consuming and can be (and normally is) expensive to adopt any animal although the rewards are priceless. Research is everything to understand how best to care for an animal. That said finding a reliable source of information can be more easily said than done as the internet can be so conflicting so if you’re thinking of getting a pair of piggies please read and consider the guides and advice we all share here. All the best with whatever you decide

Do you have females or males at home? And were you looking to get more piggies? If yes to the second question, I would try and go with a (reputable) rescue rather than get the three the guy brought in.

Are you guaranteed that neither of the three are pregnant? Do you have space to house them? And more importantly, do you have the money to look after them as well - vet fees being the most painful if they were to fall ill? We can’t help them all I’m afraid.

No at the moment I don't have any guinea pigs my last ones died a couple of years ago. And your right I will contact a rescue to see if there are any available. My husband made a wooden cage for them, and yes I do have money saved up for emergencies if anything.
