Hi all,
As you may know I've grown my herd recently by taking in some more piggies. I've been doing lots of reading but seem to find conflicting advice everywhere, so these are my questions:
1) I want to treat all of my piggies to prevent mites and worms. I understand that I should use Ivormectin and Panacur to do this - can I treat my young piggies too? I.e less than 3 months old? And the skinny pigs?
2) where can I get the above in bulk as if I buy the individual pipettes I will need to remortgage the house for the number of piggies! Lol
3) what is the dose and how is it administered? E.g orally or drop on the neck etc?

Thanks in advance for your response!

Naomi (and the piggies!)

I'm not sure on where to get these lot in bulk, though there was a post on here (not long ago) where someone bought it in bulk.

Ivermectin, i can be done monthly if you feel necessary, i would wait a few months before ivermectin the babies. Make sure you get an accurate weight on th pigs as it goes on weight an you need to be careful not to overdose them on the ivermec as it is toxic in large dosages.

I started worming my piggies at about 6 months of age i think. Its safe to use 2.5% panacur at a dosage of 0.4ml per piggie every 3-6 months.

x.

Thanks for your responses - do you know if it's the same for skinny pigs?

you can buy a 50ml ivermectin spray from Vets UK or ebay . it is called xeno 200 and lasts my 27 piggies for several months . I treat them once a month as a precaution.
