Hello,

My piggy, Elphie needs to see a vet as she has worrying weigh loss (no other symptoms). Our regular, preferred vet, Simon is fully bucked until 6th September.

I'm looking for a vet in the Buckinghamshire area who will:
  • Examine her front & back teeth
  • Run tests such as fecal float, cultures, gram staining on a poop sample
I did ask whether the tests could be run without an appointment but this isn't an option.

We travel about 25 miles to see Simon so we'd be willing to travel that far, but closer if possible.

Companion Care is where we take out Cats and puppy, but they're not very good with piggies (I had to specifically ask for Amy's medication for a respiratory infection, which I also suggested as the cause)

We found our (amazing) vet by just ringing around, they were around the 20th practice I rung asking if they had anyone who was experienced with Guinea Pig dental issues. She was unknown and not mentioned on any piggy websites so there are amazing vets out there undiscovered.

Thanks - I've been looking for vets all morning, not having much luck :( even finding a vet practise willing to run a sample is difficult.

Are you south or north Buckinghamshire? There are recommended vets in Reading & Bedford & one in Didcot, Oxford. Regarding the fecal float etc, I suggest when you do get an appointment to ask your vet to use Chester Zoo, their lab do the tests on my piggies & is more comprehensive than a basic fecal float test :)
