Well i always give my piggies a health check when there cleaned out. A week ago when i checked Meg she had a small scab on her back. I checked the others and they were ok so i asumed she had just had a lil argument with one of the others or had caught herself on something. it was only small so left it. Today i was checking over squirrel and she has 5 scabs on her back. one is quite big and the scab is half off. Theres also a cut where the scab has come off and its deep. I never hear my girls fight so I'm hoping its not that. What i have seen is Meg pulling squirrels scabs off though. How do i tell if there fighting or have mites? also how could the mites do so much damage in so little time? i checked them last clean out time. then again squirrels fur is funny and it was luck i found them., i feel sick and such a bad mommy for not noticing sooner :( ive just bathed them all in lice n easy and gave them a dose of xeon 450.
what do i do now? does squirrel need a vet? should i separate them? ( i really dont want to) please help me 8...

Mites cause intense itching, a pig can very easily and very quickly remove a large amount of skin, with horrific looking results. One of mine currently has a raw area about 2cm by 4cm on her back, but it is improving daily after Ivomec treatment.
No need to separate the pigs, highly unlikely to need vets attention. The condition always bothers the owner more than the pig, treatment and patience will lad to a cure.

ps
Have a look at the What's wrong with george post. Smae problem as you have.

Sounds like a skin issue to me, Chez. Xeno 450 is good, dose again in about a week. Depending on how much improvement this gives, a third dose a week later may be needed.

Aloe vera gel (Gorgeous Guineas sell it) works a treat for soothing sore spots. I used it on Willa's bald patch, also caused by mites and/or fungal, and it healed the scab up very well. The mites themselves don't to the damage, it is the pig scratching that causes the scabs.

Don't beat yourself up it comes on so quickly. When Leia and Lyra had it they lost so much weight so quickly as well as their fur. Hope they are feeling better soon.

i must say, sonny's had mites and it looked like you described and came on in about 4hours. it is so quick! got him to the vets an hour later and it quickly healed with pampering aloe vera and some special herbal remedy from the pet shop (which i checked with the vet first) hope they're ok soon. i think they'll all need treatment honey x
