Okay, I would strike a line through that brand then. Try and see if you can find the brands I posted earlier online.

I'll search then. But what strike a line through means? My english lets me down from time to time.

Ah sorry. Just means that one is no good, cross it off the list as it were. Your English is excellent, don't worry

Thanks again! I'll look for other brands and the ones you told me.
Can I keep giving this one for a while or do I throw it right away in the trash?

I found the ones you told me on amazon. Now we have another problem, they are too expensive.
I'm standing in a very bad situation. I can't make my best, I don't think Brasil is good place for piggies. Not just for piggies, but that's not the case.

Hm... Some people do keep their piggies without pellets. It is the least important part of their diet. You would need to get their hay and veggies 100% right first. Maybe someone else with experience could weigh in?

I think that making the changes it will already help them.
About the pellets I will figure something out, maybe if I buy one or two packs of the ones you said, I could mix with the ones I find here and make it last more.
it's not perfect but it's a step on the right one given the circunstances.
I'll buy the right veggies and give lots and lots of hay,
For Galak, i'll buy the vit c and keep with the syringe feeding. i'll look for a better pellet to syringe in then that one I'm giving.
I hope it makes her better. If it's a kidney/bladder problem, I think it's gonna be hard to do something. I'll try to give her more water, in the syringe. it's good isn't it? And i'll read more about it. I hope it's not that though.

I certainly certainly think making these changes will be a huge benefit to your piggies. It will change their lives :) Piggies with good nutrition will reward you with years of happiness.

I certainly hope that Galak improves. My heart breaks for poorly piggies. I hope you will be able to find a vet who can take the very best of care of her. She is still young so with medical attention and your loving care I really hope she will make a full recovery.

She will! I already bought her the vit c complement.
The problem is that the one they have is composed by vitamin c and glucose, can I use this one?

I think most human tablets will have glucose in tbh. A tiny bit short term shouldn't do much harm. It would need to be no longer than a week though. It's just vitamin C in them, right? No other vitamins or minerals?

What weight are the tablets btw? If you let me know I will help you figure out a dosage rate for you.

I have calculated. It's liquid, each drop has 12,92mg of vitamin c. I diluted 5 drops in water and syringed it to her.
It's not human, I bought at a vet store it's called Vita Vet C.
Vita Vet C
This is the one. I'll go and buy them some hay and bedding, be right back.

Aaah lovely. Okay, that gives her enough for the day then, you won't need to do it twice.

Yeah, but I think I'll have to give her small doses. She's a small one, 3 maybe 4 drops counting the loss that isn't that big. What do you think?

For short term treatment with vitamin C, she can have up to 100mg a day. Given that she is still eating some on her own, I don't believe that much is necessary. I'd boost her at around 50mg a day for 7 days. Today she's had 65, so that is plenty. if you give her four drops for the next 6 days, then scale back to one drop a day. It will help her fight whatever is going on.

How is her eating at the moment btw?

I'm still syringe feeding her, if I give her that almeirão vegetable I told you, she will eat it right away. The problem is that if she's having problems with calcium, that's gonna make her worse.
She also eats grass. But it's all dried up, it isn't raining here lately. So we should not water, there are other people with water issues. I'll try to give her the green pepper, but there lays another problem. It's the vegetable with most toxins, I'll try to find a good one.

Ah okay. I get you. Do you know what her poops look like atm, out of interest?
I can't, but i'll pay more attention to this. As soon as I know, I'll let you know.
Another thing, I'll work on a new home for them. A bigger one. :)

that's the one! A quarter of that a day will be really good for her. Especially if she's being picky with her eating. you can cut it into thin slices if she eats that easier.

For catching hr poops, you can pop her in a basket lined with cosy towels for a little while and give her something to eat. Once she's comfortable she'll pop out a few. A warm cloth gently rubbed over her bottom will also often stimulate poops, if she's being stubborn with giving you one. If you manage to catch some, post a pic for us. Piggy poops can tell so much about their overall health

I always pay attention to them. A couple of days ago I saw her poop and its format wasnt normal, but I figure it was because she wasnt eating at all.

More than likely, yes. What sort of shape was it? Long? Skinny? Short? Abnormally small? Sort of a teardrop shape?

Okay, that helps. Small poop does mean a lack of food, and teardrop ones often mean there is some sort of GI distress, usually caused by an underlying illness rather than just nutrition. Do you have any sort of pro-biotic that you can offer her?

(If not, don't worry, you don't need to buy more stuff, you can make poop soup).

It's literally poop hehe. You need a healthy poop from one of your healthy pigs, as fresh as possible. Preferably one that is sort of green coloured if you break it open, as these are the cecal poops they reingest to get maximum nutrition. Get half of one of these poops, crush it in a little warm (not hot) water and syringe it to her. It's sort of nasty to think about if you're at all squeamish, but it is absolutely the -best- probitioc for a guinea pig. If you find she's not taking it easily, mix it in with the syringe food you are giving her.

One question: I'm making the food with pellets, how many full syringes do I have to give her?

honestly, as -much- as you can get into her. she needs at least 120ml over a 24 hour period. So for me, when I am in your situation, I try to do at least 15ml every three hours. More if they will take it.

Is she taking it readily or fighting you?
