I know some of you will say that I would have been better going to a rescue for this guinea pig but you know when you fall in love with a guinea pig and don't want it to go to anyone else?

This story will be long but I just want to see if people can help me on what to do next!

You proberly all know that I am getting another guinea pig but things have gone totally wrong. We went to Trebaron Garden Centre on the 26th April to collect the guinea pig I have fell in love with but was told that she was pregnant and would be best for them to keep her and look after her fairplay like, I started crying as I didnt want to leave but I know it was the best thing to do as I aint had any pregnant guinea pigs before. The supervisor said she would ring me to see how she was and when she had the babies.
Then went back 7th May to see how she was getting on with her pregnancy, she looked great, I told another member of staff that if she has any baby females that we will have them and to pass them message onto the supervisor.
We then rang on the 31st May to see if she had had the babies she had them on the Saturday so by this time they were a week old, supervisor never rang to let us know.
4th June we went to see the babies, she sexed them and said that one was female so I said that I would have her and the mother, we paid for the both of them then we rang Friday to see if we could pick them up today (Sunday) but the person that was on the phone said that the supervisor wasn't in and that she would leave a message for her in the morning. Got no reply off her in the morning so my mum rang she got the message like but said she was busy, told us to leave it mid week to pick the guinea pigs up and then said I have something else to tell you that the female baby had already been sold and that we couldn't have her! This female baby was reserved at 2 days old when everytime I went in I said I wanted the female babies. She then said that there was another baby guinea pig from another litter that we could have but my mum said I don't want that one.
So me mum went in today to talk to the deputy manager he was a waste of time just stuck up for the supervisor, mum said shes gunna get in touch with head office see what they say.
But I think there is something fishy going on as like someone from the company has reserved her and that's why she aint give her to us with the mum.
Does anybody know what we can do next?
I know people are gunna laugh at me and say oh its just a guinea pig and you can get another one but its just not right the way they have treated us

Sorry for the long message!

First of all make sure you get your money back from the baby. and yes i think your mum should definitely contact head office, in writing and also by phone, (i get very suspicious of people lol)
If possible get 2 copies of what ever letters you send and post then via the post office and ask them to date stamp and initial BOTH copies so you have proof if the try the " we never got them " tactic.

I think your right that maybe it is someone within the company wants her or knows the person that does. They should not have reserved the piggy if you have said from when they found out she was expecting that you wanted the females. I would possibly give trading standards a call also as they will be able to advise you on watch action you can take as technical you had all females reserved from her pregnancy.

So sorry this is happening, its awful when you get your heart set on something, especially an animal and then be told you cant have them x

i really hope you get this sorted soon, make sure you keep us updated xx

also since * paid for them i think you have the right to take them legally ?? not sure though, as you reserved and paid there and then they should be yours x

Thats what my mums going to do tomorrow give trade and standards a call!
We only paid for her last week but they are saying that the other woman thats reserved the baby has already paid at 2 days old!
But my mum kept on saying do you want me to pay now and the supervisor kept on saying no wait until she has them incase something happens to them.
We can still have the mum its just the baby thats been reserved.
I know, I went to sleep crying last night! :(

First of all, I doubt anyone here would tell you "it's just a guinea pig"... We all have them ourselves and we know how special each and every one is and how easy it is to fall in love with them. Secondly, yes when you have paid they certainly cannot sell your pigs, but even just being reserved is a verbal contract if you've not signed something and their conduct is atrocious imho so I would definitely contact head office as well as trading standards online if you can, by phone AND in writing. Very good advise to keep copies of all correspondence as well. Then they can't weedle out of it and pretend you never sent them anything etc. I think you should also take notes about any phone conversations with dates, times, the persons name that you spoke to and what each of you said. Send a copy of all that to head office and TS if you can. May or may not be a good idea to mention trading standards to them as well. Some companies are afraid of being reported to them with good reason and will pull their finger out and do what you want to keep you happy so you don't report them but others might get defensive and refuse to deal with you so I guess it's a judgement call there. Good luck in case.

if she had already been paid for the shouldn't have allowed you to and there should of been a notice up saying sold/reserved plus the staff should of new she had been paid for !

Definitley give trading standards a call !

Try not to cry, it will get sorted out hopefully x

It's like they are contradicting themselves!
I don't think my mum will let this lie as she knows how much I wanted the two guinea pigs

Sorry I meant to add definitely mention that they never contacted you on the numerous occasions they said they would. I think they are being absolutely despicable and I hope your mum won't let it lie either. X

They said about that today and he said that we don't contact people when they have been born only after 7 days incase anything happens.
But why reserved that baby at 2 days old?

Sounds like they're trying to get out of it tbh... If they don't contact people you shouldn't have been told they would contact you and they can't get out of that. And why reserve at 2 days old if they suddenly have all these rules in case the little ones don't make it?! Sounds like a pile of rubbish to me.

I know, it's like really fishy isn't it?
But you know every company person sticks up for each other

Looks like we can't do anything to get the baby guinea pig, we rang Trade & Standards but all they said it that they have breech the contract!
I'm literally sobbing here

Unfortunatly when dealing with unreputable sorces things often go wrong, that is why reputable sorces are recomended :(

I'm very sorry that you have had to go through this, but I would urge that if you still choose to take the mother you find her a friend through a reputable rescue.

I will! I wouldn't want her to be on her own

You will never guess?
They have decided to give us the baby aswell, we are collecting them today
Will post pictures when I get them, just sorting there hutch out :)
You really don't know how happy I am :D

i'm so glad you got the 2 of them. well done your mom for keeping on at them. can't wait to see the pigtures of them:)

It wasn't actually my mum who got them it was my mums friend! So thanks to him I get to have them tonight :)

So my mum brought them home, they are so cute!
Baby keeps on following mum around all the time, mum must get fed up of her lol
She's a gobby little baby guinea pig, tell me off before for holding her!
