I just bought 2 male guinea pigs from pets at home, when i was reading up on them i was told not to get 2 males but the lady in the shop said 2 males would be fine together as long as there from the same litter so she perswaded me and i have 2 awesome piggies but ive never owned 1 before and they seem to be chasing each other round as if there fighting but I'm not sure? please can you help me? what signs am i looking for :'( last thing i want is for 1 to get hurt :'(

Two boars can live together.
How old are they?
Has any blood been drawn?

If they are form a pet shop I presume they may have come from a large group of male piggies? This means the two guineas need to sort out which one is dominant between the two of them which would not have happened when they were living in a group. They will probably be rumbling and mounting each other with a small ammount of teeth chattering. If they draw blood then you will needf to deperate them but hopefully they will sort out their dominance issues without injuring each other.
Are you sure they are both male? Pets at Home do not have the best track record in sexing guinea pigs.

there 6 or 7 weeks old there really scatty i cant get to them to see them when there eating there fine but all of a sudden there both jump like mad and chase each other I'm really nervous and dont want to leave them alone. :-\

hey vikki i think there both male the lady in shop was pretty sure i havnt looked myself as there still very nervous

They are probably just settling down to their new environment I would let them settle for now but keep an ear out for any big squeaks O0

they have been at it all night they are fine when there eating ect but when there just near each other there being cruel i dont no what to do :'(

Hi love, now don't panick, just exactly what do they do ? ? ?
If it's just chasing and chattering at each other, that's ok it's just normal boar behaviour ::) ::)
They're trying to work out whose the boss piggie at the mo O0

yeah they chasing each other round loads and making strange noises, I'm prob worrying about nothing but i cant get to sleep incase one gets hurt :-\

if their toofies are making like a clicking sound that usually means they're warning the other one off :D :D :D
I'm presuming tho that you'rs are chattering away and conversing :smitten:
go to barmy4boars web site (which is one of the mods from here's old site) and have a look she's got heaps of great info O0
Just keep asking questions love it's the only way to learn, i'm still learning and i've had our boy for 6 beautiful years O0 :smitten: :smitten:

what sort of umping do they do? is it like an electric shock jump and a squeak if so this is popcorning and is a sign of a very happy pig
if the noise sounds like a purring chattering they are angry just watch especially if they came from a lrger group as they need to see who is top dog and need to sort it out nly need to intervene if their is blood drawn as once they sort this out they wil settle quickly
Just make sure they have space to get away from each other (recommended is at least 4ft by 2ft (more space is better)

perhaps take your piggies to the vet for a health check and sex check. i am in australia but since joining here have read some shocking stories about P&H stores. :tickedoff: with wrongly sexed piggies, sick piggies etc luckily they aren't here in south australia, hoping your piggies settle down and you get them checked out by a vet. good luck hope you get some sleep. hugs and cuddles to you :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: girls send :-* :-* :-*

yeah they jump in the air and make a sqeek but when i look its like 1 has bitten the other ones bum lol they aint purring they just sqeeking and making noises when they eat or get food

I would just leave them to settle down a bit. It's bound to be a bit strange for them both, taken out of a group of boars and into a brand new home with just one other for company! Like others have said it's probably just boars sorting who is boss. Sniffing bums, rumbling noises (sounds like a machine gun) mounting each other, teeth chattering (like chewing with no food in mouth noise! and quite fast), popcorning (jumping around), dashing in and out of houses are all normal.

thanks for all the advice ill leave them to settle a bit longer i just prey there ok
