COVID-19 Needing help/Wanting to help?

I couldn't add this to the "Mutual Aid" sticky, so I'm starting a new thread instead.

Today I had an email from Freegle (a UK only equivalent of Freecycle). They want to use their network of caring people to help provide assistance to people who need it in these difficult times. Not treading on the toes of groups that have already been organised, but filling in the gaps between them.
On their web home page is a link to a form where you can put whether you are needing or offering help. It's only just started, so I think they are just getting names at the moment.
If anyone feels able to help in their local community, but doesn't know how to, I'm sure they would love you to sign up.

I logged in to Freegle a few minutes ago. Sadly it appears that because of the government's advice this evening, they have decided to not carry on with this service, which is a pity. (They are also suspending their Offers/Wanteds pages, I guess because people shouldn't be going out to collect things, though I see that Freecycle still seems to be running notmally.)
I'm wondering if our local church's help scheme will also not go ahead ... I hope not!

That will depend on what the local church’s help scheme is.
If a church is a hub / distribution point for a food bank for example, they can contin but following strict guidelines.
Each denomination’s website has guidelines for what we can or cannot do

We have a local charity called Help the Homeless and they do a hot meal from the marketplace every Wednesday... Except now they can't because of the new rules. This meal was for anyone who needs it, no judgements and not necessarily homeless. For a lot of people it was the few bits of interaction they got and yes it's right not to do it to protect everyone but I do wonder what happens now as the homeless and vulnerable are no less vulnerable now
