finally got hold of some neem oil after reading a thread about it being great for piggys with skin probs. pigs have been treated with xeno 450 but i would like to use neem oil on their coats to..ive heard it really helps their skin. now ive searched for the thread again but cant find it, and cant remember the dilution quantitys. how many parts neem oil to how many parts sunflower/carrier oil? and how long do i leave it on...24/48/72 hours before washing off? any help gladly received!

that is the thread i was looking for thank you so much....didnt realise there was a search function on the forum...doh!

We avoided putting oil on their faces, as our piggies weren't too bad and I was concerned about getting shampoo in their eyes. You may have to repeat the shampoo to get all of the oil off. We didn't lather the shampoo up too well when we were shampooing the first lot of oil off and they were left a bit greasy, so we were more diligent washing the second application off. If you can, try and use a 'natural' shampoo that doesn't contain sodium laureth/lauryl sulphate, as they're known skin irritants (which I know sounds insane since it's in nearly every shampoo and shower gel, but I don't manufacture these things; they're used because they're cheap).

We used Neem oil on all our piggies (including a very scabby boy we 'rescued' from a pet shop) and the six-week-old ones. After they'd dried from the second shampooing, their coats were absolutely gorgeous - really shiny and best of all, no mites. :)
