Nero Is A Poorly Piggy

He’s currently at the vets for fluid therapy and syringe feeding and is a very poorly piggy 😞

He started having soft pops on Monday evening (which I thought was down to eating too much grass) so kept them on just hay & nuggets Tuesday, no improvement but no worse. This morning he looks awful runny eyes, runny poo, lethargic so took him straight to the vets.

Vets can’t diagnose anything obvious so giving antibiotics, fluids and syringe feeding and just fingers crossed the little guy pulls through. Am worried sick about him 😞

@Pigjax It could be bloat too. When you start to feed them grass you have to introduce it slowly as although it's great for them, they have to get used to it.

I hope he gets better soon.
 
Hope Nero gets better. Nothing worse than having to leave an ill piggy at the vets and trust that they will look after your Nero and that Nero will get better under their care. Have you heard anything yet?
 
Thankyou all for your kind wishes. I had an update just after lunch he has had sub-q fluids and is eating food from the syringe well. Said although he isn’t much better he has perked up slightly so gives me hope he may be doing ok 🤞🏻 Should get another update later on today
 
The healing vibes are working! All being well he (and his buddy Jax with him for company) can come home tomorrow! 😁 He’s been taking syringe feeds really well and has perked up a lot. So glad he is feeling better felt so awful seeing him look so ill this morning. Cannot wait to go pick him up and give him snuggles 😍

Nero is home 😁😁😁

The vet never actually diagnosed anything specific just gave him several different medications as precaution to treat anything he may potentially have. He is on Sulfatrim, Ranitidine, Fibreplex and Loxicom with a check up in 5 days time (or before if he needs to be seen)

He is already much brighter and eating by himself which is encouraging. Just so glad to have them both home 😍
 
Nero isn’t doing as good as I’d hoped. Improvement seems to be slow. Although he has put a small amount of weight back on the last couple of days hasn’t been much improvement (but he is no worse either) Does it take a while for piggies to ‘bounce back’?

He’s due a check up on Weds but I can take him before if I’m worried so may take him tomorrow instead.

I’m not sure how much food he is eating as he is with his cage mate Jax. He eats the veg when I put it in (only small amounts of spring greens currently) and the nuggets go down. But he still feels quite thin. Might it be worth buying a different nugget to try? Currently got a double bowl with Harrington’s and PAH but they don’t touch the Pah.
