Well the rspca home visitor called this morning to arrange a day for a home visit. She is comming Monday at 10:30am!
I was nervous before but now i am bricking it! lol. I suffer anxiety on some level for most things, but this i have major anxiety about. I dont know what i would do if they said our home was unsuitable :(. I am now second guessing everything i do piggie wise...stupid i know but i worry they will judge my family's house, judge us...just my dog...judge Honor. I know its all stupid....but i couldn't sleep last night until 5am thinking about it all, and now i have a date and time i will be worse tonight.
I know its stupid, but have not had a home check in about 7 years adopting an animal, and then it was for other animals, never piggies.
I will feel so bad if they say no, i really want to give Sweep my possible new piggie a home with Honor, i just feel so bad they could say no :S

After seeing your photos and knowing how much you care for the piggies I can't imagine them saying no! I would be anxious too x

Thanks everyone, i know its silly,....its mostly all in my head. I just have always been a worrier about everything... Especially when it comes to my babies (my animals).

It's because you want this so much that you're getting anxious.
I have seen many of your previous posts about Honor and Haven and can't see any reason why the RSPCA won't welcome you with open arms.

Honestly if you fail a home check there isn't much hope for the rest of us!
That's really sweet, thank you :) . I am just a stress pot. Its so nice having piggie people i can chat to! Thanks for letting me ramble on and vent, Its nice having people i can chat to who love piggies as much as i do and know how i am feeling :) x Thank you all x

Jenny I am 100% certain the person will be very impressed by your set up. They are looking for a cage that meets the requirements and a safe environment. You provide a perfect environment. You have such lovely piggy furniture and little Honor is treated like a princess. I do understand your worries though as it is horrible to feel you are being judged and checked out. I hope you can sleep tonight.

i'm sure you'll be fine and pass easily. i have anxiety too (as part of my mental health collection ) so can definitely relate. deep breaths and good luck x

Jenny! You will be fine I promise.

When we adopted Cookie and Treacy-Bum we were very nervous over the RSPCA home check. They asked the following things from memory_

1.They will want to know you meet the minimum cage size and see where they'd be living.
2.They'll ask about diet
3.They ask about arrangements if you go on holiday - who will look after the piggies?
4.They ask about vets
5 Ask about other pets

You are a bloody amazing owner, you honestly have nothing to worry about, you are knowledgeable and very caring. Have a hug, try not to worry you will be fine I promise x x

Seriously! you're worrying that they won't let you adopt a piggy.... Why they'll be asking you to help them home check & be trying to give you more piggies!

from all the posts & info you have given on here from what i can see if you don't pass the home the home check, i'll be eating hats!

Fit in plenty of cuddles with Honor, that'll make you both relax ;):D
Good luck, although you should breeze through it. xx

Thank you everyone for all your kind words...its very sweet, I am sorry i sounded so neurotic. I get so anxious in unknown situations. I am pleased its a morning home check, less time to worry lol. I will be online as soon as its over and let everyone know what happened. Only a day and a half to go, and hopefully that will go quickly :)

I suffer with anxiety on a few levels and I know how these things can play in your mind. I am pleased it is a morning one, gets it over and done with quickly for you.

Jenny, you are going to be absolutely fine - you are an amazing piggy mummy and they will be able to see how much you love Honor and all piggies just from your set up. I think someone else has mentioned this - they are looking to see that you meet the minimum requirements - I think most of us on this forum would be horrified if we just reached the minimum because we all strive to surpass that as our piggies are family members and not just animals. I totally understand why you are nervous, and you cant stop that but keep remembering that you are going to be fine!

Just a little thought, I don't really believe in alternative therapies but when I was doing IVF I was prepared to try anything to help so I started doing hypnotherapy and it actually really worked to help chill me out - maybe it is something you should try - you really feel your mind and body unwind.

The RSPCA are only doing a home check to ensure you are suitable. I can understand you are anxious. But you are such a knowledgeable and caring piggy owner they should recognise that when they see you. You could always ask the home checker is there anything that they think you need to address. That way you know that you are doing all you can to satisfy the RSPCA requirements. But I am sure you will fly through the process. Try not to be too nervous and remember to smile to put the home checker at ease after all they are only human! Good luck.
