Bit nervous about Sunday and Jerry's 2 night 'picking a friend' holiday. He seems so content and happy and I've read a bit about Boars and the whole domination thing which all sounds pretty unpleasant. I'd hate to add a boar and for Jerry to become unhappy. Of course we have the added bonus that Jerry will choose who to be friends with, if at all. I suppose I'm just worrying over making the right choice for him and not making matters worse. *sigh*

I understand totally.

Bonding is always a nerve wracking time, but you know what.... It normally works out, you'll see lots of threads and comments of the interwebs about bonding going wrong... but that is human nature - there will always be more comments about bonding going wrong because people will be after advice... Rather than people posting saying how great bonding went... So try and remember there is more chance of it working than not.

You are also getting Jerry to pick a friend rather than just popping a pig in with him so again, more good chances of success

I hope that all goes well! You will know which boy Jerry is happy with! Dating really makes a big difference as you come home only with a mate where acceptance has happened. Are you rescue dating or private dating?

You may want to take two carriers and start with a round on neutral territory at home again.

Thanks for your comments. Of course you're right, there must be lots of success with bonding not spoken about and I'm lucky that I've found a rescue centre who are in a position to spend time to bond Jerry with a new friend. I hope that we end up with two contented piggies. I'll be relieved once we have a result.

It's a rescue centre listed on this site - he's been fab and gone out his way to help. Good idea about two carriers. I'l be picking some up on Friday

Good luck! I've recently had a rough bonding (1 neutered male to 4 rowdy sows) and I went through turmoil guessing if it would work or not but I think pigs are more accepting than we give them credit for :)

I've had 2 successful bonds (adding 2 pigs and then 1) and it's all gone according to plan eventually. It's not all doom and gloom and I'm sure Jerry will thank you for it when he gets a nice new buddy to share his life with! :)

All the best for Sunday, always an anxious time when a piggy finds a new friend. I’ve witnessed some bonding sessions and more often than not, they work.
Paws crossed :) xx

The amount of time I spend worrying over things that in the end just naturally take their course is astounding lol I'm the same with my son! Haha You sound as if youve had alot of fun with bonding and piggies in general!

Thanks @Tim
I'll let you all know how it goes - hopefully with a photo of two happy guineas!
Thanks everyone. I'm feeling more positive xx

I know the feeling! Fun and bonding don't go in the same sentence for me :)) I have 5 beautiful pigs living (semi) harmoniously because of the bondings though so I guess the heart attacks were worth it :D
