I'm having to keep an eye on Errol pig (again) as he seems to be having a very strange problem. Whenever he is sat still, he'll start drifting/leaning towards the left and have to correct himself repeatedly. Same side as his lens luxation eye. It's definitely not a head tilt, and the leaning is both very gentle but noticeable.

General thoughts from another rodentologist and what had been in my mind is that it's fairly likely to be neurological, but I still have to be aware of the possibility of a mild ear infection or even the chance he could have had a very small stroke. His only symptom thus far is this drifting/leaning movement. He walks around fine, no loss of balance at all then, and he's eating normally, but whenever he is sat still he'll just...drift to the left! I'll try and get a video of it.

Reason for starting this thread is to ask if anyone else has had/come across a pig with suspected or diagnosed neurological problems.

Hi Laura,

My guinea pig, Lulu, gave birth to 2 babies a week ago and the girl has brain damage. She leans to the right which means she has right sided brain damage. I'm waiting to see if its water on the brain which unfortuantely will result in death. Hopefully she doesn't have that. She is slowly making progress with standing and walking. Sometimes it looks like she is surfing.

I'll let you know of her progress. I Hope your pig, Errol, will be fine. I don't know if this helps at all as this is a newborn baby as opposed to an adult.

Lynn

Sorry I don't have any knowledge/experience of this type of symptom but I can bump up your thread!

Really hope you get to the bottom of it soon and that Errol is ok x
