Neutered boar ?

Hi, I'm learning so much from this forum. I'm wondering if it's a good time to add in a neutered boar to my 3 young girls? Is that a good or bad idea? Should I wait till they are older, more settled, they are just coming up to 4mths old? They are 3 siblings from same litter. I've only had them a couple of weeks. Should I wait ? When would it be the right time, I know I would like to add a neutered male but happy to wait. Your thoughts are appreciated.

Hi

Your girls are just coming up to teenage and are at an ideal mixed gender bonding age where acceptance is at its highest. An adult boar may ensure that the hierarchy is clearer and he ymay not quite go as overboard in the hormone stakes as a teenager meeting the ladies for the first time. But you have the biological urges working very much in your favour - unlike with older sows past ideal pup bearing age... Prepare for some manic seasons, especially initially and around 6 months.

I've currently got five 'husboars' living with one or several sows (one more having just died two days ago) but I have had 9 hubbies at the same time during the pandemic. My largest group ever was 13 sows living with a very charismatic boar with natural leadership potential. I am a big fan of them...

If you can rescue date your girls, then that is best to ensure acceptance and a good personality match.
