Adult Guinea Pig
This will definetly not be for a while yet, if at all, because it hasn't been long since Barry died and I want to wait until I feel like I'm ready for a new boar, and not just rushing into it to try and replace Barry in any way. I'd love another boar, but I just can't keep one alone, and the hutch isn't big enough for 2, so I'm thinking about a neutered boar. I have never got a guinea-pig from a rescue before, and have never had a neutered boar either, so I have a few questions.
Do you think a neutered boar would get along ok with 3 sows? I know this depends on the individual guinea-pigs but I had problems introducing Sasha, Edie and Marmalade and there were a few little fights, so would adding another guinea-pig be a bad idea?
I may go to a rescue, but travelling is a problem for me as I don't drive, although I can get to some places so I need to look into rescues a bit more, but do most rescues neuter their single boars?
If I didn't go to a rescue, what are the costs and other things I should know about getting a guinea-pig neutered? I will look at the health section now to find out some more about looking after guinea-pigs who have just been neutered, and I would much rather go to a rescue but I really have to find out some more about different things first.
As I said I am not getting a boar straight away, so please don't be annoyed with me for getting another so quickly, I may not even be able to get one at all, and right now I'm just trying to find out some more about it, because I just miss having boars so much and this seems to be the only way I can have another boar.
