Neutered or Not ?

I would imagine (excuse me if this is crude, or obvious) the lack of... man bits (tescticles) would be fairly obvious. If the size of by boys bits is anything to go by anyway.

If in doubt, take a piccy.

My big boy harveys erm... Bits are fairly noticeable so if they haven't got them then you shall notice :)
Are you thinking of getting a new friend?

Yep, lack of testicles and possibly also small scars where they were removed. I would also have a vet check as some boars have a knack of hiding them when it's cold or they're scared.

I've wondered this too! Other than the lack of 'lumps', would there be any scar tissue where the incisions were made?

Oh, nevermind! DSL answered my question while i was still typing it :))

On Peter I can't see any scars from his at all although for a short time at first I could see them. Definitely the lack of testicles, every time I pick up a boar now its like wooooooaaaaahhhh I forgot how big these little boys can be :))

Small poos and lack of "baggage" are the two big giveaways.

Poos are no longer banana shaped and can be half normal size.
Left is "intact"......right is neutered

As for the lack of baggage - well piccies/descriptive words fail me!

Brilliant Picture!

RE: poos. Pebble's pictures are great as a general rule of thumb, but from my experience don't guarantee that the pig has been neutered. Little Pig used to have "normal" poos, but ever since his health problems began in July his poos have looked like the post-neuter poos. This was despite the fact that he did not lose weight (after regaining the amount he lost), continued to eat well and (other than the testicle biting) was given a clean bill of health by the vet. Now he has been neutered (one month ago) his poos still look the same.

Ok, I've just rummaged in my piggies cage (!) and my piggies have large, "normal", slightly curved poos - and they're all neutered!

So that's what happened to Tufty's poos, I've just looked over to the pen to see him nomming and looking at me rather thoughtfully.:(|)

Vashtian was neutered last week. It looks as if he still has testicles although he hasn't. The vet said that he had left the grease balls in although removed the testicles. Actually, it doesn't look like testicles, but like two lumps... hmmm... not sure I am making myself clear, sorry.

It takes a little while for swelling to go down - don't panic yet! Pig took about 3 weeks (if not a bit longer) for the swelling to calm down.

A lot of boars are much neater than that though. I've only ever owned one neutered boar and his poos were mahoosive so I don't know how reliable the poo size thing is.

That needs a censored label put on it! :x

:))

EDIT: In order to be slightly helpful - I've got two neutered boars and whilst I haven't noticed the difference in poop sizes (can't say I've really had a rummage...) neither still have ^ that on disply and you can actually see the little scars on both of my lads! :).

The foster piggies I have had in last year 4 were neutered and the poo size was the first thing I noticed, before their op big juicy poops, and straight after half the size :)

Jesus christ amanda that should come with a warning! they're huge! :o

Interesting point about the poos, never knew that before!
I think we can rest assured we all know what we're looking for on a boar NOW lol ;)
